Thassos Island

Cast aside the image of typical Greek islands – Thassos unveils a hidden gem, an island whispering tales of ancient marble quarries and breathtaking natural beauty.

Imagine turquoise waters lapping at pristine shores, a haven for sun-seekers and water enthusiasts. But Thassos is more than just a beach escape. Lush forests of pine and plane trees blanket the interior, offering a cool refuge for nature lovers and hikers.

Thassos beckons with short, affordable ferry rides from the mainland, making it an ideal getaway for travelers seeking a taste of island life without the hassle. Yet, despite its easy access, Thassos retains its idyllic charm, a true gem waiting to be discovered.

About Panagia

Panagia, a traditional mountain village on Thassos, enchants visitors with its stone-built houses, shady plane trees, and natural springs. Nestled on the green slopes above Golden Beach, it offers a peaceful contrast to the island’s busy coastline.

Wander through its narrow cobbled alleys, visit the old churches, and enjoy homemade sweets or local meze in the tavernas around the square. Here you can slow down, listen to the sound of running water, and experience authentic village life just a short drive from the sea.

Getting Here

Thassos is only accessible by ferry boat and has two ports, Skala Prinos and Limenas (Thassos Town) which are serviced from Kavala and Keramoti on the mainland.

The easiest way to get to our hotel is to arrive in Limenas by ferry from the port of Keramoti which is only a 10 minute drive from Kavala airport (Megas Alexandros) and 190 km away from Thessaloniki.

From the port of Keramoti, the ferry arrives at Limenas (Thassos Town), the island’s capital. The crossing takes about 35 minutes and there are frequent sailings, usually every half hour during the summer months. Upon your arrival in Limenas, you can drive to the traditional village of Panagia. Our accommodation is located in Panagia, approximately 8.5 km from the port, a journey of about 10–15 minutes by car.

From the port of Kavala, ferries depart for Skala Prinos on Thassos. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and, during the summer season, there are up to five sailings per day. Upon your arrival in Skala Prinos, follow the island’s ring road clockwise, following the signs for Limenas / Potamia / Panagia. Continue along the main road, passing through Thassos Town (Limenas), and then follow the signs to Panagia until you reach the traditional village where our accommodation is located.

The nearest airport to Thassos is Kavala Airport (“Megas Alexandros” Airport), located near Chrysoupoli, just 17 km from the port of Keramoti. There is a daily connection with Athens throughout the year, and during the summer season it also serves charter flights from all over Europe.
